We area team of volunteers, supported financially by Chinnor Parish Council (who own and insure the site), and our own fundraising through open-days, sales of postcards and guidebooks, and donations.
On top of this rebuild work, we're keeping the site under control (the Parish Council do the grass and hedges), and the mill's paintwork needs renewing every so often.
We would be more than keen to welcome support of anyone who has an interest in joining us either regularly (working parties 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month ) or on an ad hoc basis as your commitments allow.
During COVID lockdown we identified 'homework jobs', where something relatively small can be made at home whilst the main working parties were suspended, so if you want a lockdown project, we may be able to oblige.
(For example I did some gear teeth in my garage using a small mobile bandsaw we bought for the purpose:
the resultant gear segment just fits intro my mini's boot...
Others have made feed hoppers and associated flow gates, and a friend in Wales will be making us some windows for the roundhouse).
Our team has historically been about restoration, but as the mill edges towards some sort of operation, the emphasis will be towards running it as a visitor attraction, providing guided tours, and increasing the number of open days and special openings for schools and learners of all ages (we have done dedicated primary school, home school and University of the 3rd age tours, and would hope to expand this 'outreach' activity.)
For this, expertise in generating and supporting and on-line presence would be great, as we transition from a restoration project to a visitor attraction, and we'd also like an advocate to work with the Parish Council to secure the ongoing funding to formalise the mills future maintenance and custodianship.
